The Canada and Latin America Research & Exchange Opportunities (CALAREO) Consortium was formed in 2018, to support faculty and student mobility with Latin America, including exchange programs, scholarships and research collaboration. The Mitacs-CALAREO Globalink Research Award (GRA) Program provides funding to senior undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows for short (3-6 months) research trips from select countries in Latin America. Carleton University has five awards for students from Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.  Nominations must come from a Carleton faculty member (“host supervisor”) who is familiar with the student and/or their home university supervisor.  If the Carleton supervisor’s application is approved, students will be invited to submit a complete Mitacs GRA application to conduct a short research project at Carleton (referred to as the “host” institution), under the supervision of the nominating faculty member.
