In addition, we work with institutional and faculty facilitators, and experts in the Office of the Vice-President (Research, Innovation and International) (OVPRII) and across the university who also support these projects. Conferring with our office is essential for the success of securing such resources and beyond. For example, international sponsors often require institutional evidence of Carleton&#8217;s status.<\/p>\n<p>During this stage, Carleton International will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake due diligence for legal signatory for submission to external funders<\/li>\n<li>Support the submission of the proposal to external funders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-stage-3-research-award\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-stage-3-research-award\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Stage 3: Research Award<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-stage-3-research-award\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>After the international sponsors announce their award or contract decision, we review the terms and conditions\u2014including warranties, liabilities, and intellectual property rights\u2014and negotiate and sign the legal project documentation.<\/p>\n<p>During this stage, Carleton International will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate the terms and conditions to the researcher<\/li>\n<li>Recommend an institutional signature<\/li>\n<li>Activate the project in Carleton&#8217;s research database with the fully executed agreement<\/li>\n<li>Inform Research Financial Services of the project so a new research account can be opened<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with other offices such as Risk Management and Privacy for additional input<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-stage-4-business-development-of-consortium-projects\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-stage-4-business-development-of-consortium-projects\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Stage 4: Business Development of Consortium Projects<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-stage-4-business-development-of-consortium-projects\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>In addition to offering general advice, we work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and project coordinators on larger project development to prepare for the various stages of implementation.<\/p>\n<p>During this stage, Carleton International will guide the PI and their project coordinators on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contracts to grant-funded employees<\/li>\n<li>Sub-awards to partner organizations<\/li>\n<li>Sub-contracts to consultants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-stage-5-promote-your-research\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-stage-5-promote-your-research\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Stage 5: Promote Your Research<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-stage-5-promote-your-research\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>We provide promotional support if the researcher requires assistance.<\/p>\n<p>During this stage, researchers should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Register for an <a href=\"https:\/\/library.carleton.ca\/services\/orcid-open-researcher-contributor-id\">Open Researcher and Contributor ID<\/a> (ORCID)<\/li>\n<li>Plan their <a href=\"https:\/\/library.carleton.ca\/services\/open-access-support\">Open Access<\/a> (OA) publication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-stage-6-project-management-and-monitoring-frameworks\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-stage-6-project-management-and-monitoring-frameworks\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Stage 6: Project Management and Monitoring Frameworks<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-stage-6-project-management-and-monitoring-frameworks\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>Continuous and systematic collection of data not only improves the management of your project, but provides greater accountability to funders. Building a monitoring and evaluation framework also improves the chances of future funding. We can advise on developing your Theory of Change and\/or Risk Mitigation for larger projects.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-stage-7-project-development\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-stage-7-project-development\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Stage 7: Project Development<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-stage-7-project-development\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><\/p>\n<p>New cycles of project funding require sufficient planning.
