The information below outlines the internal requirements and procedures for applying to Carleton for research visits only. For information on country eligibility, scholarship values, and durations of visits, please visit the program websites at the links above.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the procedures on applying for study visits at Carleton, please contact the Global Opportunities and International Student Services Offices at <a href=\"&#x6d;&#97;&#x69;&#x6c;t&#x6f;&#58;i&#x73;&#115;o&#x40;&#99;&#x61;&#x72;l&#x65;&#116;o&#x6e;&#46;c&#x61;\">&#x69;&#x73;&#x73;&#x6f;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#x72;&#x6c;&#x65;&#x74;&#111;&#110;&#46;&#99;&#97;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students must be citizens of an eligible country. See the program websites for lists of eligible countries and additional eligibility criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.educanada.ca\/scholarships-bourses\/can\/institutions\/elap-pfla.aspx?lang=eng\">Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.educanada.ca\/scholarships-bourses\/can\/institutions\/study-in-canada-sep-etudes-au-canada-pct.aspx?lang=eng\">Study in Canada Scholarships (SICS)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants must be registered at their home institution (in an eligible country) at the time of applying and for the duration of their scholarship.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For undergraduate students, there must be a current institutional agreement between Carleton University and the home institution. New agreements will not be signed for this purpose. Informal agreements between faculty members or active research collaborations will be accepted. No agreement is required for graduate students to apply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students must contact and secure a host supervisor at Carleton prior to applying.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-application-documents\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-application-documents\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">Application Documents<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-application-documents\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter of intent <\/strong>from candidate (max one page); includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the nature of research to be undertaken<\/li>\n<li>the rationale for study in Canada and for the choice of institution, program and supervisor<\/li>\n<li>how the proposed program of research relates to their future career<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.educanada.ca\/scholarships-bourses\/non_can\/notice-enonce.aspx?lang=eng\">Privacy Notice Statement<\/a><\/strong> signed by candidate (Please download this for your application package)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proof of candidate\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>citizenship <\/strong>(passport or national ID card)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proof of full-time<\/strong> <strong>enrolment<\/strong> (a letter in English from the home institution, on official letterhead, dated within the last six months,\u00a0confirming that the candidate is currently enrolled in a full-time program and will continue to be enrolled upon their return and providing the expected completion date of the degree.). The letter must clearly state:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The type of program and the level of study of the candidate at the home institution;<\/li>\n<li>The full-time enrolment status at the home institution \u2013 the words \u201cfull-time\u201d must be used in the letter; and<\/li>\n<li>The anticipated completion date of the degree at the home institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Letter of support <\/strong>from candidate\u2019s home institution (max one page)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>on official letterhead<\/li>\n<li>dated within the last six months<\/li>\n<li>from the candidate&#8217;s instructor, professor or international director<\/li>\n<li>explains the nature of research to be undertaken in Canada and how the candidate and the home institution will benefit from this scholarship program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Letter of invitation<\/strong> from host faculty member at Carleton. (max one page)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>on official letterhead<\/li>\n<li>dated within the last six months<\/li>\n<li>signed by the Canadian supervisor<\/li>\n<li>describes the nature and scope of the research collaboration with the student\u2019s home institution<\/li>\n<li>outlines the research activities to completed during the research visit<\/li>\n<li>confirms their willingness to support and mentor the candidate during the exchange period<\/li>\n<li>explains how the Canadian institution, supervisor and peers will benefit from the exchange<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Note \u2013 <\/strong>any information or documents missing from final submission will not be considered. Carleton International will not review documents ahead of time to verify completion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Deadline for applications <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The deadline for applications is <strong>March 16, 2026<\/strong>. All documents must be submitted by this date. Submissions with missing or incomplete documents will not be considered.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How to apply <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To begin the application process, a student first needs to find a Carleton faculty member to host them during their visit. Securing a host is the responsibility of the applicant. You should first browse the faculty list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academics\/departments\/\">department<\/a> that is most appropriate given your own studies. Choose a professor whose research interests match your own and contact them directly. Give them enough time to consider the request.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complete the online form by clicking the &#8220;Apply Here&#8221; button below and attach all the supporting documents, then submit.
