{"id":14493,"date":"2018-01-22T20:30:45","date_gmt":"2018-01-23T01:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/coris\/2018\/scholl-foundation\/"},"modified":"2018-05-07T09:30:52","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T13:30:52","slug":"dr-scholl-foundation-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/2018\/dr-scholl-foundation-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Scholl Foundation Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"outerwrapper\">\n<div id=\"wrapper_global\">\n<div id=\"container_global\">\n<div id=\"mainContent_global\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p class=\"text2\"><span class=\"text2\">The Dr. Scholl Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to organizations committed to improving our world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text2\"><span class=\"text2\">Solutions to the problems of today&#8217;s world still lie in the values of innovation, practicality, hard work and compassion.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Opportunity<\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"text2\">Grants are made annually after an extensive review of the application by the staff and all the directors of the Dr. Scholl Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<div id=\"outerwrapper\">\n<div id=\"wrapper_global\">\n<div id=\"container_global\">\n<div id=\"mainContent_global\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p class=\"text2\"><span class=\"text2\">Applications for grants are considered in the following areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Education<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Social Service<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Healthcare<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Civic and Cultural<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Environmental<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text2\"><span class=\"text2\">The categories above are not intended to limit the interest of the Foundation from considering other worthwhile projects.\u00a0 In general, the Foundation guidelines are broad to give us flexibility in providing grants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"text2\">Over the past decade, approximately 28% of our grants have been related to education, 28% to social services, 22% to hospitals and healthcare, 17% to civic and cultural with the remaining percentage spread out in the above categories. The majority of our grants are made in the U.S. However, like Dr. Scholl, we recognize the need for a global outlook.<\/p>\n<p>Non-U.S. grants are given to organizations where directors have knowledge of the grantee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"outerwrapper\">\n<div id=\"wrapper_global\">\n<div id=\"container_global\">\n<div id=\"mainContent_global\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>The Foundation awards grants on an annual basis to valid Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3) organizations. Non-U.S. applicants without a 501(c)(3) must complete a notarized affidavit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Who is not eligible?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div id=\"outerwrapper\">\n<div id=\"wrapper_global\">\n<div id=\"container_global\">\n<div id=\"mainContent_global\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p class=\"text2\"><span class=\"text2\">The foundation does not consider the following for funding:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Organizations that do not have a valid IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Organizations that cannot provide us with at least 3 years of financial activity<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Political organizations, political action committees, or individual campaigns whose primary purpose is to influence legislation<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Foundations that are themselves grantmaking bodies<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Grants for loans, operating deficit reductions, the liquidation of a debt or general support<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Grants to individuals<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Grants are rarely made to endowments or capital campaigns<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Event sponsorships including the purchase of tables, tickets or advertisements<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">More than one request from the same organization in the same year<\/li>\n<li class=\"bullets\">Publicly supported state, local and federal government organizations (i.e. public schools and municipalities) are rarely considered for grants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"page\">\n<div class=\"core\">\n<div class=\"colLayout\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Funding Available<\/h3>\n<div id=\"outerwrapper\">\n<div id=\"wrapper_global\">\n<div id=\"container_global\">\n<div id=\"mainContent_global\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"text2\">There is no limit; however, on average, our grants range from $5,000 to $25,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"text2\">Proposals are accepted from October 1 to March 1 at 4:00 pm (CST) of the following year. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Application Package<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"outerwrapper\">\n<div id=\"wrapper_global\">\n<div id=\"container_global\">\n<div id=\"mainContent_global\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>The application form and instructions are available after October 1 each year online. Application forms must be requested each year.
