{"id":1497,"date":"2012-06-12T16:20:51","date_gmt":"2012-06-12T20:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/?p=1497"},"modified":"2012-06-12T16:20:51","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T20:20:51","slug":"call-for-papers-reclaiming-global-governance-prospects-for-an-uncertain-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/2012\/call-for-papers-reclaiming-global-governance-prospects-for-an-uncertain-world\/","title":{"rendered":"CALL FOR PAPERS: Reclaiming Global Governance: Prospects for an Uncertain World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Canadian Foreign Policy Journal <\/em><\/strong>(<em>CFPJ<\/em>) is hosting a workshop entitled, \u201cReclaiming Global Governance: Prospects for an Uncertain World\u201d in Waterloo, February 5 &amp; 6, 2013, in cooperation with the <strong>Balsillie School of International Affairs <\/strong>(BSIA) and the <strong>Centre for International Governance Innovation <\/strong>(CIGI). Papers presented at the workshop will be eligible for publication in a special issue of <em>CFPJ <\/em>in autumn 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the issue is innovations in global governance. At a time of global power diffusion, economic uncertainty, and normative change collective efforts to manage global challenges have never been more important. <em>CFPJ <\/em>invites submissions that address innovations in global governance amidst growing global fiscal constraints and greater access to global commons (air, sea, space, and cyber) by a diverse array of state and non-state actors. We ask authors to write on a specific governance issue, identify the key strengths and weaknesses of current governance arrangements, cast their imagination forward 20 to 30 years, propose feasible changes that will improve regional and\/or global management of the issue in question, and, if possible, identify ways in which Canada might contribute to these changes.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking papers from junior scholars, particularly senior PhD candidates or individuals who have recently graduated from a PhD program (since January 1, 2006). Papers should explore global solutions to specific economic issues (e.g., trade, development, global finance), security issues (e.g., arms proliferation, territorial disputes, human security), social issues (e.g., labour, health, migration, development), environmental issues, or questions regarding bilateral and multilateral approaches to governance and institutional reform.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals should be for a paper in the 5,000 to 7,000 word range. Interested applicants should send a short bio and 250\u2010word proposal to cfp&#106;&#95;&#103;&#x6c;&#x6f;&#x62;&#x61;&#x6c;&#x5f;gov&#101;&#114;&#110;&#97;&#x6e;&#x63;&#x65;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;rle&#116;&#111;&#110;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61; by August 30, 2012.
