{"id":16980,"date":"2018-09-10T21:29:37","date_gmt":"2018-09-11T01:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/coris\/2018\/idrc-boosting-employment-africa-youth\/"},"modified":"2018-10-30T09:35:58","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T13:35:58","slug":"idrc-boosting-decent-employment-for-africas-youth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ci\/2018\/idrc-boosting-decent-employment-for-africas-youth\/","title":{"rendered":"IDRC \u2013 Boosting Decent Employment for Africa\u2019s Youth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IDRC, INCLUDE, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) seek concept notes for action-oriented research aimed at informing the design of effective and innovative interventions that boost decent employment for Africa\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n<p>Nested within the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, this call is part of a series planned for the next two years to help governments, civil society, and private sector actors design effective and innovative interventions that boost economic opportunities for youth in sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<h3>Opportunity<\/h3>\n<p>This initiative will support cutting-edge research projects that address either one of the following priority research themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Soft skills and digital jobs for youth; and<\/li>\n<li>Effective approaches to foster work-based learning programs and mentorship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Concept notes under each theme must address gender constraints that hold young women back from improving their economic prospects and accessing decent work.<\/p>\n<p>The call seeks concept notes that are systems-oriented; innovative; grounded in practice; engage directly with key stakeholders; and have the potential to inform action in one or more countries in sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility<\/h3>\n<p>The call is open to applicants from research-focused organizations, academia, research institutions, think tanks, and non-governmental organizations around the world. However, the applicant must have a strong presence in sub-Saharan Africa or a partnership with a sub-Saharan-based institution.<\/p>\n<h3>Funding Available<\/h3>\n<p>Projects are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2019 and should be scheduled to be completed within a timeframe not exceeding 24 months, including all research, dissemination and brokering activities and final reporting.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must provide a preliminary budget summary.
