Academics Without Borders (AWB) is seeking faculty from engineering for the following volunteer opportunity in Uganda:<\/p>\n

STRENGTHENING UNDERGRADUATE ENGINEERING RESEARCH TRAINING IN UGANDA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) proposes to enhance its curriculum to strengthen the research capacity of the graduates of its undergraduate engineering program. It is proposed that the enhanced curriculum would occur in both semesters of the 3rd year of the undergraduate program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One or two AWB volunteers will work with the local project lead and other faculty at MUST to further develop the concept of the research training curriculum, to design the various elements of the curriculum, and to provide guidance and training for the faculty at MUST who ultimately will be responsible for its implementation.<\/p>\n

It is especially important that the curriculum be developed in close collaboration with colleagues at MUST to ensure that it is well-suited to the MUST and Ugandan context and will be readily integrated and sustained within the undergraduate engineering curricula.<\/p>\n

The enhanced research training curriculum will initially be developed and offered to biomedical engineering students but will eventually be developed to be offered across the engineering program.<\/p>\n

We are looking for 1-2 volunteers.\u00a0 The volunteer opportunity will initially involve working online.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are seeking a volunteer with a PhD (or equivalent) in a field of engineering; a minimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in engineering education in a higher education setting with an expertise in curriculum design, especially as related to research training; excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; and excitement regarding the role of higher education in global development. Applicants who have experience working in international environments are especially encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n
