Strong analysis alone is not enough &#8211; it must be interpreted, contextualized, and translated into insight that decision-makers can use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Senior Policy Advisor helps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Strengthen the relevance and credibility of NC-CIPSeR outputs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Bridge research and decision-making<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Provide context, judgment, and strategic framing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Identify policy gaps, misalignments, and emerging risks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"responsibilities\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Senior Policy Advisor, you may take on one or more of the following responsibilities, based on your expertise and interests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strategic Policy Advice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide senior-level policy advice across NC-CIPSeR initiatives, task forces, and research projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advise on governance, policy, regulatory, and institutional implications of research findings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support alignment between research outputs and policy, operational, or strategic priorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research Oversight &amp; Synthesis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review and provide strategic feedback on policy briefs, reports, and analytical outputs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help shape research questions, framing, and synthesis across projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support consistency and coherence across sectoral and cross-cutting work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mentorship &amp; Capacity Building<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mentor Policy Analysts, researchers, and volunteers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support analytical rigor, policy relevance, and professional development across teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share experience, frameworks, and lessons learned from senior policy environments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Engagement &amp; Knowledge Mobilization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Represent NC-CIPSeR in policy-relevant dialogues and multi-partner initiatives, as appropriate\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contribute to high-level briefing notes, discussion papers, and presentations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participate in roundtables, workshops, and consultations with government, industry, and academic partners<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"qualifications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0We are seeking candidates who bring strategic insight, policy experience, and credibility across complex policy environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5+ years of professional experience in public policy, national security, critical infrastructure, emergency management, regulation, or related fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated ability to provide senior-level policy advice and strategic judgment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong understanding of policy development, governance, and interdepartmental coordination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience mentoring teams or contributing to collaborative, interdisciplinary environments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assets (Optional but Preferred)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience representing organizations in senior-level or multi-partner forums<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experience working with or advising government departments, regulators, or public institutions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cross-sector experience spanning government, industry, academia, or non-profits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Familiarity with Canadian policy, security, or infrastructure frameworks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong writing and communication skills, with ability to translate complex material into accessible formats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in design or multimedia tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with podcast or video production is an asset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bilingual (English\/French) preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative, collaborative, and eager to connect research with practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-youll-gain\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You&#8217;ll Gain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hands-on experience in applied policy research<\/strong> focused on real-world challenges affecting Canada\u2019s critical infrastructure, public safety, and national resilience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exposure to cross-sector policy environments<\/strong>, working at the intersection of government, industry, academia, and defence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Practical experience translating research into policy-relevant outputs<\/strong>, including briefing notes, backgrounders, and sector analyses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mentorship from senior policy advisors and research leaders<\/strong>, with structured feedback on analytical and writing work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A deeper understanding of governance, legislation, standards, and risk frameworks<\/strong> shaping infrastructure protection and emergency management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Opportunities to contribute to nationally relevant research and publications<\/strong>, including NC-CIPSeR reports and <em>Pulse &amp;
