The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kebaowek.ca\/index.htm\">Kebaowek First Nation<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/concernedcitizens.net\/\">Concerned Citizens of Renfrew County and Area<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccnr.org\/index.html\">Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sierraclub.ca\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sierraclub.ca\/\">Sierra Club Canada Foundation<\/a>\u00a0filed for this review on September 27th to challenge Environment and Climate Change Canada\u2019s decision to issue a permit to destroy species at-risk habitat during construction. Preparation of the site, only 1 km away from the Ottawa River, would require the removal of 10,000 mature trees and would destroy vital habitat for endangered bats, the Canadian Warbler, the rare Golden-Winged Warbler, Blanding&#8217;s Turtles, endangered Eastern Wolves and active Black Bear dens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend this hearing<\/strong>\u00a0to show their support for the dedicated groups who have been working for years to protect the Kichissippi River (Ottawa River), this land and the local wildlife and to assert the rights of the Algonquin peoples who have been caring for and stewarding these lands and waters for millennia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can attend the hearing in person or register to watch it on Zoom.<\/strong>\u00a0To obtain the Zoom link, visit this link\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fct-cf.gc.ca\/en\/court-files-and-decisions\/hearing-lists\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.fct-cf.gc.ca\/en\/court-files-and-decisions\/hearing-lists\">HERE<\/a> and scroll down to &#8220;Advanced Search&#8221; and type \u201cKebaowek\u201d in the search bar.
