In this video we will go over pages.

Pages are the most basic and commonly seen content on a website. Pages display static information, meaning the content of a page doesn’t change frequently. Pages make up the site navigation.

This is an example of a page. All the items that you see on the navigation menu here are also pages.

Now I’ll walk you through the page editor. I’ll start by adding a new page.

Like the content editors for all other types of content, the page editor has fields for you to add a title and page content, as well as a Publish menu and a Categories menu. When you add a page title, CMS will automatically generate the page’s URL with the site title being the slug. To change the page’s URL, click “edit” and type in your new slug.

You also have the option to add a banner image to your page. Your banner image will look something like this.

To add a banner to your page, scroll down to “Page Options”, and under “Banner Image Type”, select “Hosted” to use a hosted image or “Upload” to upload your own image. We will talk more about hosted images in the Advanced Training Module 2.

Now, I will upload a banner image by selecting “Upload” and clicking the “Add Image” button here. I will select an image from the media library. You can darken the banner image to improve text readability. Here I will select 50%.

One feature unique of pages is creating a parent-child page hierarchy. You can make one page the “child” of another page by giving it a “Parent” in the “Page Attributes” menu. Under “Order”, you can insert an order number. If the parent page has many children, the children pages will be arranged by order numbers. This will change the slug of the child into “parent-page/child-page”.

Another unique feature of pages is the table of contents. A table of contents is automatically generated based on your current headings, and is displayed at the top of a page. It allows users to easily navigate your page and quickly jump to the content they are looking for. To enable the table of contents, from the page editor screen, scroll down to the “Enable Table of Contents” menu and check the box.

Try It Out!

Now that you have learned about pages, time to try it out!

Create a new page.

Give the page a title.
