You will need to edit or delete the default notification which automatically notifies the <span class=\"s2\"><strong>{admin_email}<\/strong> (in Carleton&#8217;s case, this is the address <a href=\"&#109;&#x61;i&#108;&#x74;o&#x3a;&#x77;&#101;&#x62;&#64;&#99;&#x61;r&#108;&#x65;&#116;&#x6f;n&#46;&#x63;a\"><span class=\"s3\">&#x77;e&#x62;&#64;&#x63;&#97;&#x72;&#108;e&#x74;o&#x6e;&#46;&#x63;&#97;<\/span><\/a>) and change it instead the an email address that is monitored by whoever needs to be aware of form responses. You can also use notifications to send an automatic email upon submission to the user who fills out your form.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Step-by-Step<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>From the form\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Edit\u00a0<\/strong>screen, hover over\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>\u00a0in the form\u2019s menu and click on\u00a0<strong>Notifications<\/strong>.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1582 \" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Notifications.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Notifications.png 681w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Notifications-240x151.png 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Notifications-400x251.png 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Notifications-160x101.png 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Notifications-360x226.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>From here, you can either edit the<strong> Admin Notification<\/strong> by clicking on it or click <strong>Add New<\/strong> to create a new notification.<\/li>\n<li>There are several fields you can edit on this screen. These values will appear as the name and id of the selected field in curly brackets, which will be replaced by the actual input value when the message is sent.\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: lower-alpha;\">\n<li>For example, if you want to send a notification email to the user and address them by name, you could use the <strong>Merge Tags\u00a0<\/strong>tool to select the name field and input it in the <strong>Message. <\/strong>(Ex. Hello {Name (First):2.3} )<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Once you&#8217;re finished editing the notification, click\u00a0<strong>Update Notification<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>From the main notifications screen (see step 1 to navigate back here), ensure that only the notifications you want to be sent are toggled on with the\u00a0<strong>Active\/Inactive<\/strong> slider. This video is part of our series on forms, and will cover form notifications.<\/p>\n<p>From your form, navigate to Notifications by hovering over Settings and clicking on Notifications.<\/p>\n<p>From here, you can choose to either create a new notification or edit the default Admin Notification. If you do choose to create a new one, be sure to toggle off the Admin Notification. But, in this video, we\u2019ll be editing the Admin Notification.<\/p>\n<p>Customize your notification. You will need to fill in the email the notification will be sent to, and where it will be sent from. You can also customize the subject line and message.<\/p>\n<p>This Merge Tags button also allows fields to be filled in by values entered into the form.<\/p>\n<p>For example, you could have a notification sent to someone after they fill out the form. You can then add their name to the body of the message, and make the email it is sent to their email. The contents in the curly brackets will be replaced with the value they enter into the form.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019re finished editing the notification, click Update Notification.<\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<h2>Try It Out!<\/h2>\n<p>This series of trainings will follow a single form from creation to downloading responses. This practice activity requires you to have already created a form. If you do not know how to do that, you can return to a <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/cms-help\/advanced-training\/module-4-forms\/creating-and-editing-forms\/#try\">previous training exercise<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open your test form and navigate to notifications.<\/li>\n<li>Edit the default notification and create a notification that will send you an email when the form is filled out. Make sure to replace any mentions of {admin_email} with an appropriate email.<\/li>\n<li>Save your notification.<\/li>\n<li>Create a new notification and create a notification that will send an email to the person who has filled out the form, notifying them that they have filled out the form.
