If you&#8217;re planning to begin your first Co-op placement in <strong>Fall 2026<\/strong>, you must complete <strong>COOP1000 in Winter 2026<\/strong>, ahead of your <strong>Summer 2026<\/strong> job search.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register via Carleton Central in <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"><strong>COOP 1000 section G for Winter 202<\/strong>6.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/co-op\/coop-1000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">COOP1000<\/a> is an <strong>online, zero-credit course<\/strong> that runs over <strong>8 weeks<\/strong> and includes <strong>7 modules<\/strong> focused on building essential employability skills. Topics include:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identifying and marketing your skills and achievements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writing effective resum\u00e9s and cover letters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preparing for industry-specific interviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning and executing an independent job search<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transitioning from university to the workplace, including topics such as professional ethics and workplace safety (e.g., professional ethics and workplace safety).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COOP1000 will begin on January 9th.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>COOP1000 is a zero credit course and does not affect a student\u2019s registration limit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"2-co-op-regulations\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.&nbsp; <strong>Co-op Regulations<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Co-op regulations can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/co-operativeeducation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a>. It is your responsibility to read these regulations and to contact the Co-op Office if you have any questions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"3-co-op-fees\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.&nbsp; <strong>Co-op Fees<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once you have registered in COOP1000, the first of four non-refundable Co-op administration fees will be charged to your account. While the fees do not guarantee you will secure a Co-op position, they provide you with access to career advising and all available resources and workshops, helping to maximize your chances of success.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will also be required to pay a work term fee for each work term you secure. If you are not able to secure a position in a given work term, the work term fee will not be charged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For more information about the fees associated with the program, please visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/co-op\/how-does-co-op-work\/program-cost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Program Cost Page.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"4-continuation-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.&nbsp;Continuation Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To be eligible to participate in the Co-op Program, you must be registered in a full-time course load during all study terms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be advised that your academic audit will be reviewed several times a year in order to ensure that you are still meeting Co-op\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/co-operativeeducation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Continuation&nbsp;Requirements<\/a>.&nbsp; If you do not meet the requirements, you will be notified and removed from the program. Students are encouraged to follow-up with the Co-op Office should they again become eligible in a future term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"5-international-co-op-students\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>5.<\/strong>&nbsp; <strong>International Co-op Students<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you require a student visa to study at Carleton, you are considered an International Co-op Student. You will therefore need to secure a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and a Co-op Work Permit.
