Title: “Landing a Job Interview …And What to Expect if you Do”, AKA, the “How to get a job talk”

The process of applying for a job in academia seems like a well-guarded secret, and it seems like every department has its own particular criteria. If you’re just now poking your head up as you realize that end (of your degree or postdoc) is rapidly approaching, and you have burning questions like “where are the jobs exactly?”, “what do I need to submit for a job application?”, and “how do I write a research statement?”, then this is the right talk for you! We’ll answer all these questions and more as we demystify the application and interview process. By the end, you will be equipped with the tools and information to sally forth, write your applications, and hopefully land a few interviews of your own.

Presenters: John Anderson will provide the perspective of the “new hire” while Jo-Anne Lefevre has agreed to provide the perspective of the employer.
