Kaleigh E. St Jacques is this Fall’s Carleton University Senate Medal winner in Cognitive Science.<\/p>\n

She graduated on Saturday, Nov. 12th and also received her degree with High Distinction.<\/p>\n

This are Kaleigh’s own words:<\/p>\n

Deciding to study\u00a0Cognitive Science at Carleton University was an easy decision to make! The program itself encompasses many of my academic areas of interest, psychology and cognition, linguistics, computer science, etc., and also gave me the chance to explore new subjects due to\u00a0its\u00a0creative structure. In my final year I had the opportunity of writing my thesis on peer versus solo problem solving for code tracing tasks, under the supervision of Dr. Kasia Mulder. This was an insightful research and learning experience that I will take with me for years to come. Over the course of my years at Carleton University, I am very appreciative of the support of my professors and TA’s within the Cognitive Science faculty, who helped me achieve my academic goals. I was fortunate enough to have thoroughly enjoyed all four years of my honours degree!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

My Cognitive Science pathway allowed me to consider two very fulfilling career pathways during the time of my studies; speech-language pathology and teaching. Ultimately, I chose to pursue a career in Education, as a Primary\/Junior Elementary Teacher, which I am extremely passionate about and feel best suits my strengths. I am currently attending the University of Ottawa for a Bachelor in Education, enabling me to teach in Ontario at the Primary\/Junior level within the next two years! Thank you to Carleton University and the Department of Cognitive Science for providing\u00a0me with such an enriching educational experience and playing an incredibly important role in assisting me carry\u00a0out my career dreams!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
