I have been fortunate enough to meet and engage with a number of excellent students and faculty working at the forefront of cognitive science. The interdisciplinary nature of cognitive science, particularly as it is realized in the ICS, has meant that I have never been starved for discussion about new and interesting topics of study.

I have also found the Cognitive Science department to be a supportive and encouraging environment during my time. Along with the exceptional administration and faculty, my supervisors Andrew Brook and Robert West have helped me to grapple with a number of thorny conceptual issues surrounding levels talk and computational cognitive modelling. Without their continued support and guidance, my academic success would not be what it is.

In moving on to the PhD level next year at the University of Edinburgh, I have little doubt that the knowledge and skills gained during my time in the program have aptly prepared for further work and research in cognitive science.”

The Institute of Cognitive Science congratulates Luke Kersten.

At the June 2016 Convocation Luke Kersten won a Senate Medal for his Master’s in Cognitive Science.
