This element of the Common Approach to Impacting Measurement project is a way of connecting the work of individual organizations to Social Development Goal (SDG) indicators without imposing strict uniformity.
The project will focus on the following SDGs:
SDG 2 –End hunger, achieve food security, improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture
SDG 8 – Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all
SDG 3 – Well-being
Social purpose organizations told us repeatedly that well-being cannot be disconnected from the other work that they do.
Because employment, food security, nutrition and sustainable food practices are linked to well-being, we include portions of SDG 3 as a cross-cutting issue.

Research on standard-setting suggests that successful standards – those with wide and long- lasting adoption – must balance uniformity and flexibility.
This report outlines how a flexible standard can be created for social and environmental indicators.
