Catch up here!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><strong>7th Annual Community Engagement Event (2021): <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/cu-events\/connecting-classroom-and-community-exploring-urban-planning-issues-for-student-engagement\/\"><strong>Connecting classroom and community: Exploring urban planning issues for campus-community engagement<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In May 2021, the CCEP hosted an online panel and discussion focusing on opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to work with local communities in Ottawa on issues raised by the development of the City\u2019s Official Plan. The aim was to develop concrete, meaningful connections within and between Carleton and community actors. This event will be the first in a series exploring opportunities to connect the university and community on local issues in the City of Ottawa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Speakers included Paul Johanis of the Greenspace Alliance and the People\u2019s Official Plan for Ottawa\u2019s Climate Emergency, Cheryl Randall of Ecology Ottawa, Chris Stoney of Carleton\u2019s School of Public Policy and Administration, and Ozayr Saloojee of Carleton\u2019s Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityengagement\/report-connecting-classroom-and-community-may52021\/\">Final Report<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><strong>6th Annual Community Engagement Event (<\/strong><strong>2020<\/strong><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This event aimed to connect members of the community with Carleton. By making connections, community-based organizations and Carleton are able to collaborate, providing meaningful outcomes that are tangible, relevant, and contribute to the community\u2019s well-being.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityengagement\/event\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><strong>5th Annual Community Engagement Event (2019)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">This event included a series of workshops with the core goals to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">Connect<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">Build\/strengthen networks<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">Celebrate success<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">Recognize and acknowledge challenges<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li4\"><span class=\"s1\">Reflect on what works and even better if scenarios<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityengagement\/5th-annual-community-engagement-event\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><strong>4th Fourth Annual Community Engagement Event (2016)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This event connected representatives from community organizations who were seeking to partner with Carleton students and faculty. The event featured a keynote presentation by Marc-Andr\u00e9 Clement (Culture Shock Canada) and some of Carleton\u2019s top students, who shared key insights on how to make partnership-based projects effective for all involved. It also featured a series of networking sessions hosted by community organizations and Carleton faculty on over two dozen topics, as well as a special session on a community-led proposal for an Ottawa networking platform.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityengagement\/4th-annual-community-engagement-event\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Best Practices in Community Engaged Teaching and Research at Carleton (2015)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The CCEP, in collaboration with 1125@Carleton, the Discovery Centre, Teaching and Learning Services, and the Carleton Scholar program, hosted a special roundtable event that highlighted what a partnership with community-based organizations looks like in practice, the benefits and challenges of these partnerships, how community engagement in teaching can benefit research and vice versa, how to establish partnerships, and much more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/edc\/2015\/blog-community-partnerships-in-teaching-and-research\/\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Missed a past CEP event?
