The CBRC Webinar Series on “How Community-Based Research is implemented with marginalized populations” explores critical themes and issues, showcasing case studies and providing helpful insights and lessons learned.
Marginalized populations can be both overlooked and undervalued in research, but CBR can be used to overcome these potential pitfalls. In this webinar Mavis Morton shares about her CBR work with women and children who are exposed to violence.
Presenter: Mavis Morton
Dr. Mavis Morton has 25 years of experience in community-based research (CBR). She also has extensive experience integrating CEL opportunities into junior and senior undergraduate courses, for which she was awarded the UGFA Distinguished Professor Award for Innovation in Teaching in 2014. Mavis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Guelph. Her areas of interest and focus include violence against women, women and the law, feminist criminology, justice and social policy, public sociology, community based participatory research (CBPR) and community-engaged learning.
