Kim Matheson is a member of CFICE’s Steering Committee. She is a social health psychologist and Director of the Canadian Health Adaptions Innovations Mobilization Centre (CHAIM). Her research addresses the social determinants of health, with a particular focus on marginalized populations. She has done work concerning the impacts of group based stressors – stigma, immigration, cross cultural differences, prejudice and discrimination – on the physical and mental health of members of disadvantaged social groups. Dr. Matheson has considerable administrative experience at the departmental, faculty and university levels. Her most recent work is in partnership with First Nations organizations in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation region of Northwestern Ontario. She is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Social Interactions, Identity, and Well-being Program of the Canadians Institutes for Advanced Research, the Board of Directors for CANARIE, and the Scientific Board of the Institute of Mental Health Research at the Royal Ottawa Hospital.
