About CFICE<\/h2>\n

\"Image<\/a>Community-First: Impacts of Community Engagement (CFICE) is a seven-year SSHRC<\/a>-funded action research<\/a>\u00a0project. The goal of CFICE’s research is to strengthen Canadian communities by answering the question:<\/p>\n

How can community-campus partnerships<\/a> be designed and implemented to maximize the value created for non-profit, community-based organizations<\/a>?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/h3>\n

Project work is divided into two project phases:<\/h3>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Through both Phase I<\/a> and Phase II<\/a>, the project seeks to achieve the following outcomes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Strengthen<\/strong> public policies and programs in critical areas (PR, CFS, CES, and VAW)<\/li>\n
  2. Enhance<\/strong>\u00a0non-profit community-based organizations’ (CBOs’) abilities to form community-campus partnerships that achieve mutual goals<\/li>\n
  3. Encourage <\/strong>universities and colleges to adopt\u00a0<\/strong>a community first attitude when partnering with CBOs<\/li>\n
  4. Create<\/b> more effective and long-lasting partnership opportunities through\u00a0government and foundation support<\/li>\n
  5. Support\u00a0<\/strong>pan-Canadian community-campus engagement<\/a> (CCE) networks<\/li>\n
  6. Recruit<\/b> multi-generational leaders who can design and implement more effective CCE<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    CFICE is co-directed by Carleton University and the Canadian Alliance for Community-Service Learning<\/a>. The project operates under the guidance of a Steering Committee<\/a> and Program Committee<\/a>, and with the support of a Secretariat housed at the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
