They offer solutions for more effective <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/cu-glossary\/community-campus-partnerships-ccp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">community-campus partnerships<\/a> through piloting new and improved brokerage models.<\/p>\n<p>By examining different brokerage models, this working group generates research on how to start and maintain community first community-campus partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>The CCE Brokering working group supports the development of two community-driven pilot projects:<\/p>\n<h3>1. The Community-Academic Collaborative for Food Sovereignty<\/h3>\n<p>The Community-Academic Collaborative for Food Sovereignty (CACFS) project aims to strengthen relationships between academics and community-based practitioners working on national food policy issues through a food sovereignty lens.<\/p>\n<p>These partnerships are supported through Food Secure Canada (FSC) as part of their efforts to establish a platform through which a wide range of food sovereignty stakeholders can connect and share knowledge and experiences.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2808\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED-240x160.jpg\" alt=\"Multiple stick-people connected with dashed lines, representing a network.\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED-240x160.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED-160x107.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED-360x240.jpg 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/network_RESIZED.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>Through this network, the CACFS pilot project runs activities to promote further collaboration between community-based actors and the research community. Activities may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Curating and sharing<\/strong> videos, webinars, and briefing series on critical issues in food policy<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developing<\/strong> plain language summaries of academic and community-generated research<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hosting<\/strong> workshops to broker relationships between academic and community partners around specific themes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the longer-term, CACFS aims to increase the quality and quantity of community and academic-generated knowledge and food sovereignty research partnerships across Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Other researchers working on <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/cu-glossary\/food-sovereignty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">food security<\/a> and food sovereignty will be invited to collaborate with the project by contributing to the overall budget and to the knowledge base in exchange for access to FSC\u2019s civil society and policy contacts.<\/p>\n<p>This project is being co-led by <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/people\/amanda-wilson\/\">Amanda Wilson<\/a>, Coordinator at Food Secure Canada,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/people\/diana-bronson\/\">Diana Bronson<\/a>, Executive Director of Food Secure Canada and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/people\/charles-levkoe\/\">Charles Levkoe<\/a>, Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Food Systems, Lakehead University.<\/p>\n<h3>2. The Ottawa Environmental Brokerage Table<\/h3>\n<p>The Ottawa brokerage initiative builds off the work of CFICE Phase I partner, Ottawa Eco-Talent Network\u2019s (OETN\u2019s), focus on engagement with local post-secondary institutions. We are engaging <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/cu-glossary\/community-based-organizations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Community-Based Organizations<\/a> (CBOs) in the Environment sector as well as local post-secondary institutions (PSIs) to share tools, lessons, and technology developed in Phase I, and develop guidance in Phase II on how community <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/cu-glossary\/brokerage-mechanism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brokers<\/a> can better engage and collaborate with multiple post-secondary institutions and community organizations.<\/p>\n<p>One key deliverable of our Phase II work will be a Community-Campus Pathways Guide for Community-Based Organizations in the Environment sector. We appreciate your feedback and you can help by providing us with input on the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Why<\/em> do you connect with local post-secondary institutions?
