Canada\u2019s food movement will gather in Halifax (Nov 13-16, 2014) for its biennial feast of food and ideas \u2013 the first ever in Atlantic Canada!\u00a0 For three action-packed days, people from many different walks of life who are passionate about building healthy, sustainable food systems where no-one is hungry will gather to share, strategize and build a better future for food in Canada.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Partners include\u00a0Food ARC\u00a0at Mount Saint Vincent University, the\u00a0<\/span>Nova Scotia Food Security Network<\/span><\/a>, and the\u00a0<\/span>Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(ACORN). ACORN\u2019s annual conference (their 15th) will immediately precede the Assembly, and takes place at the same hotel, providing a great opportunity for joint events and conversations.\u00a0We are also working in collaboration with the other Atlantic Provinces through each of their provincial food security networks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>About the Assembly<\/span><\/p>\n

The theme \u2013\u00a0Waves of Change: Sustainable Food for All<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 reflects the need to place questions of long-term sustainability at the centre of how we think about, produce, and eat our food. It also reflects the growing strength and complexity of the food movement and its commitment to creative and lasting solutions to the problems of hunger, sustainable livelihoods in the food business, and the protection of our health and the environment. Waves symbolize the momentum generated when many drops of water come together as a collective power, as well as highlighting the critical role of water and water-based food. Each of us has an important role to play in making waves to build the kind of food system we would like to see.<\/span><\/p>\n

Call for Proposals (due April 18, 2014) \u2013 we\u2019re seeking presentations, workshops, and other ideas!<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

We invite you to submit a workshop or presentation and encourage you to share this Call for Proposals with your colleagues. With an anticipated attendance of over 350 people from across Canada, the event offers an exceptional opportunity to share experiences, deepen dialogue, gain access to cutting edge research and ideas, and sharpen our skills in order to advance our collective work.
