Together, we unite for one day of continuous pride for the country we all call home.<\/p>\n<p>But of course, despite the pride, we all have an idea for how Canada\u00a0could be even better: Roughly 35 million Canadians means\u00a0roughly 35 million visions for the country.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a lot of visions.<\/p>\n<p>How can people share their story on what they want their Canada to look like?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4137\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 185px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-4137\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of Leanne Clare\" width=\"185\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7-160x224.jpg 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7-240x336.jpg 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7-768x1075.jpg 768w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7-400x560.jpg 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/wp-content\/uploads\/lclare6943-5x7-360x504.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Leanne Clare is the founder and lead storyteller at the Campfire Project.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>How do we collect those visions and see what people really care about?<\/p>\n<p>Leanne Clare has the answer.<\/p>\n<p>Clare created the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.campfireproject.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Campfire Project<\/a>, a platform where Canadians can share their stories about their vision for Canada and actually be heard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really like the idea of storytelling to really get at what people value,\u201d Clare says.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a former journalist, I know that stories contain what people really care about, what they value and they also have the ability to inspire other people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Clare says the idea came to her in the shower four years ago when there was a lot of frustration among Canadians because there was no vision for the country coming from Parliament Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Clare recalls her eureka moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought: We don\u2019t need a bunch of politicians to tell us what the country could be. We could crowd source this by using stories to try and figure out what people want for the future of the country, and we could create a big, national vision out of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clare left her job at the David Suzuki Foundation to pursue Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Carleton University. At that time, she will start to collect stories for the national vision and will release Canada\u2019s collective thoughts in the fall of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Clare hopes to have community dialogue around the visions that could lead to a new road map for change in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the beginning of something,\u201d Clare says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t really know where it\u2019s going to go, but I&#8217;m excited about where it might take me.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Amy Richardson, CFICE Communications RA Today, for Canada\u2019s 149th birthday, we celebrate all the things that make us proud to be Canadian.
