{"id":6590,"date":"2017-12-19T12:00:43","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T17:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/?p=6590"},"modified":"2017-12-18T11:51:45","modified_gmt":"2017-12-18T16:51:45","slug":"academic-article-people-centred-approach-food-policy-making-lessons-canadas-peoples-food-policy-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/communityfirst\/2017\/academic-article-people-centred-approach-food-policy-making-lessons-canadas-peoples-food-policy-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic Article: A people-centred approach to food policy making: Lessons from Canada\u2019s People\u2019s Food Policy project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our partners in the Community-Campus Engagement Brokering (Food Sovereignty) working group have been busy this year advocating for a National Food Policy in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>They have also been busily writing up the lessons learned from this work in a new journal article titled\u00a0<em>A people-centred approach to food policy making: Lessons from Canada\u2019s People\u2019s Food Policy project.\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/eprint\/UYRC6HPVQjSrteemh9aK\/full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Hunger &amp; Environmental Nutrition.<\/a> This article was published online by the\u00a0 on December 17, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The paper reflects on a major public engagement process that was established to develop a Pan-Canadian food policy based on the principles of food sovereignty. The authors present an account of the People\u2019s Food Policy (PFP) as a social and political experiment that mobilized a diversity of civil society networks and Indigenous people to establish transformative spaces and processes for (re)claiming control of the food system.
