The Non-credit Chinese language courses offered through the Confucius Institute at Carleton University are delivered by the visiting scholars/ certified instructors from the Chinese Universities. The curriculum, pedagogical methodology and enrolment standard are based on the Official Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK) classification, this would benefit the learners for future HSK test which is required by many Chinese universities and organizations for international studies and employment opportunities. The courses are designed to target the language skills in daily conversation and practices including speaking, social and business communications. In addition, related cultural knowledge, group activities and events will be introduced and arranged as an integral part of the teaching. Consultations are available for advanced studies of Chinese language and culture.

Courses are offered in Entry Level and Intermediate Level. Orientation, interview and HSK placement test are required for enrolment. The complete term of the course of this level is 48 sessions (about 3 month): 4 sessions per week, 45 minutes per session. All classes are at St. Patrick’s Building at Carleton University
