The Confucius Institute has worked closely with the Music Department to introduce the cross-cultural world music exploration to the students at Carleton University with international and local partners including the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and NACO musicians in Ottawa since the NAC Orchestra China Tour in 2013.

“Confucius Institute International Music Summer Camp” is the annual cultural program by the Chinese and International Music Cultures & Music Confucius Institute Office of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing (CCOM). Since 2014, three “International Music Summer Camps” have been held in Beijing, Tianjin, Yunnan and Hunan, over 100 music-major students from 8 prestigious universities of 7 countries and five continents had been invited to visit China to learn traditional Chinese instruments, experience local music and folk cultures, and perform various concerts at CCOM. 12 Carleton students from the Music Department participated the 2016 Music Camp and enjoyed the high professionality and extensive fusion of global musical cultures.
