David McCurdy Baird, O.C., Ph.D., LL.D., D.Sc., F.R.S.C.

David McCurdy Baird was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Tuesday, June 7, “in recognition of outstanding contributions to science education in Canada through teaching, writing and creating museums.”


The Honourable Monique Bégin, P.C., O.C., Ph.D., F.R.S.C.

The Honourable Monique Bégin, a former federal cabinet minister and academic, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Tuesday, June 7, “in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the lives of Canadian women and the accessibility to the Canadian health-care system for all.”


Mary May Simon, O.C., O.Q., LL.D.

Inuit leader Mary May Simon was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 2 p.m. ceremony on Tuesday, June 7, “in recognition of dedication and commitment to Inuit rights, social justice and education and leadership in circumpolar affairs.”


Joy Harvie Maclaren (New Sun), C.M., B.Sc., LL.D.

Joy Harvie Maclaren (New Sun) was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Wednesday, June 8, “in recognition of outstanding contributions to Carleton University, the advancement of minority rights and support of Aboriginal and Inuit culture and education.”


Toller Cranston, C.M.

Figure skating icon and artist Toller Cranston was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Wednesday, June 8, “in recognition of outstanding contributions to international sport and Canada’s cultural life.”


The Honourable Judith Erola, P.C., L.L.D.

Former federal cabinet minister, the Honourable Judith Erola, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony on Wednesday, June 8, “in recognition of outstanding and exemplary service in political and public life, the building of civil society and continuing engagement with Carleton University.”


Jeffrey Turnbull, C.M., M.D., M.Ed., Ph.D., F.R.C.P.C.

Esteemed physician Jeffrey Turnbull was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Thursday, June 9, “in recognition of outstanding contribution as a humanist engaged with service to our community, particularly with aid to the disenfranchised.”


Roderick M. Bryden, B.A., LL.B., LL.M., LL.D.

Roderick M. Bryden received the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 2 p.m. ceremony on Thursday, June 9, “in recognition of a career of successful entrepreneurial leadership and outstanding business development in the Ottawa-Carleton region.”


Charlotte Gray, C.M., B.A., LL.D.

Charlotte Gray, award-winning biographer and historian, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Friday, June 10, “in recognition of outstanding contributions to Canadian history and biography and to the cultural life of the nation’s capital.”
