Opportunity

The specific objective of this funding opportunity is to generate and share knowledge that will achieve one or more of the following:

  • Improve understanding of barriers to and opportunities for positive physical, social, and mental health outcomes for LGBTQIA/2S individuals, families and communities whose health is impacted by the intersections of their sexual orientation, gender, race/ethnicity, experiences of racism, and/or additional intersecting social identities, positions and processes, including but not limited to ableism, age, classism, disability, faith, heterosexism, homophobia, immigrant and/or refugee status, Indigeneity, language, transphobia and xenophobia.
  • Inform the implementation and/or sustainability and scale-up of new or existing community-based interventions to improve health and wellness for LGBTQIA/2S communities from an intersectional perspective.
  • Evaluate the reach, effectiveness, and benefits of community-based interventions to improve health and wellness for LGBTQIA/2S communities from an intersectional perspective.

Funding Available

  • The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $1,900,000, enough to fund approximately twenty (20) grants. This amount may increase if additional funding partners participate. The maximum amount per grant per year varies by funding pool (see below). The duration of all grants is one year
  • Of this $1,900,000
    • Small-scale projects: $200,000 is available to fund at least eight (8) small-scale projects by local, regional, or provincial/territorial Community Organizations with the total requested budget ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
    • Medium-scale projects: $700,000 is available to fund at least seven (7) medium-scale projects by local, regional, provincial/territorial or national Community Organizations with the total requested budget ranging from $25,001 and $100,000.
    • Large-scale projects: $1,000,000 is available to fund at least five (5) large-scale projects by local, regional, provincial/territorial or national Community Organizations with the total requested budget ranging from $100,001 to $200,000.
    • Applications relevant to each pool will be funded top down in order of percent rank within their pool. If a pool is undersubscribed or lacks fundable applications, the remaining unfunded applications that are deemed fundable will be pooled together and funded in rank order as far as funds will allow.
