Announcements

1) SSHRC Insight Grant Info Session

Hello to our SSHRC researchers!

Insight Grants support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. Funding is available to both emerging and established scholars for research initiatives of two to five years. It is an open competition each October that receives proposal involving any disciplines, thematic areas, approaches or subject areas eligible for SSHRC funding.  These grants enable scholars to address complex issues pertaining to individuals and societies, and to further our collective understanding. Applications may be submitted by an individual researcher or a team of researchers (consisting of one applicant and one or more co-applicants and/or collaborators).

We encourage you to attend our SSHRC Insight Grant information session if you are thinking about applying in the Fall 2019 competition or to one in the future.  “Too early?”, you ask?  Not at all!

Please join us:

  • Wednesday, May 1, 2019
  • MacOdrum Library Discovery Centre Room 482
  • 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Your Faculty Research Facilitators will provide a brief introduction to the SSHRC Insight Grant program including covering any recent changes to the application process; discuss the evaluation criteria and adjudication process; and highlight some tips from our, and your colleagues’, experiences on what makes a competitive SSHRC Insight Grant application.

We look forward to seeing you there!

2) Update on the CIHR Foundation Grant program

Dr. Michael Strong announced that CIHR has decided to sunset the Foundation Grant program. The 2018-19 competition will still proceed as planned, however, and successful applicants will still receive their grants in full. Furthermore, those individuals who currently hold a Foundation Grant will continue exactly as planned, with no reduction in their funding levels.
