Changes to CIHR Foundation Grant

CIHR is implementing two changes to the 2017-2018 Foundation Grant competition.

The following changes have been made:

  1. The total funding envelope for the Foundation Grant program will be reduced from $200M to $125M, and the $75M reduction will be redirected to the Project Grant program.
  2. Early career investigators (ECIs) will not be eligible to apply to the Foundation Grant program, starting with the 2017-18 competition, but CIHR will ensure that the success rate of ECIs is equalized in the Project Grant program.
