The Montr\u00e9al LOC and several members of the COSC Executive have put together an outstanding scientific program that brings together today\u2019s leading Canadian researchers in the field of oxidative stress. The Meeting will include the following symposia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Aging and Mitochondrial Disease<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress in Cancer<\/li>\n<li>Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Diseases<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress in Health, Nutrition and Disease &#8211; Joint symposium with the Society for Free Radical Research Europe (<strong>SFREE<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress and Antibiotic Resistance<\/li>\n<li>Redox Control of Cell Signaling<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress Response Networks &#8211; Genomic and Proteomic Approaches<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress and Neurodegeneration &#8211; Alzheimer\u2019s Disease<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress, Toxicology and the Environment<\/li>\n<li>Oxidative Stress in Neurology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>There will be presentations from international Plenary speakers who are at the top of the field. Confirmed speakers are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Helmut Sies<\/strong> will be a SFREE speaker. He is from the Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I, Heinrich-Heine-University D\u00fcsseldorf, D\u00fcsseldorf, Germany, an is an expert in redox biology, oxidants, antioxidants and micronutrients. He established the concept of \u201coxidative stress\u201d in 1985.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Marcus Conrad<\/strong> is from Helmholtz Zentrum M\u00fcnchen, Institute of Developmental Genetics, Neuherberg, Germany. He is an expert in redox-regulated cell death signalling and his current focus is ferroptosis.<\/p>\n<p>A major objective of the Canadian Oxidative Stress Consortium is to provide a quality environment and to expand training opportunities for the developing scientist. A major emphasis of the biannual meeting of the Consortium is to provide graduate students and post-doctoral fellows (Postdocs) with the opportunity to interact and engage in intellectual thought that is imperative in their process of learning and training to become prime scientists. Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to hone their skills at effectively delivering oral presentations or discussing their research through poster presentations at the biannual meeting. The Meeting will feature two Symposia for Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Trainees, who will be selected from the submitted abstracts. Several poster and oral presentation awards and travel awards will be presented to Trainees at the Conference Banquet on Friday July 15, 2020.
