What you put into it:

  • Previously unpublished fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry on the topic:

Canada: the next 150 years

  • 1500 words maximum for fiction and creative nonfiction; 25 lines maximum for poetry
  • Open to Ottawa-area high school students in grades 9-12
  • NO entry fee

What you get out of it:

  • The chance to interpret, represent, comment upon, speak out about Canada
  • ALL suitable submissions will be posted on Passages, the website dedicated to the Creative Writing Competition at Carleton University
  • ALL have a chance to win one of three e-readers, passes to the Ottawa Writers Festival, passes for summer music festivals in Ottawa and for Ottawa Valley fairs
  • Up to 20 successful entries will be published in a dedicated anthology chapbook published by In/Words Magazine and Press

What you need to do:

Submit your piece by April 1, 2017. Winners will be announced June 5, 2017.
