Canada\u2019s shameful colonial policies to forcibly assimilate Indigenous peoples into white Canadian society through residential schools have separated thousands of Indigenous children from their families and exposed innocent children to horrendous abuse. Generations of Indigenous peoples have been systematically robbed of their language, culture and family ties.
