The required term is reduced to three years to make it easier for faculty members to commit to volunteering for CRIW’s leadership roles. CRIW will now be managed by an Outgoing Director, an Operational Director and an Incoming Director.

As the Outgoing Director, Dr. Merridee Bujaki, mainly performs an advisory role, supporting the other directors, while also functioning as the provider of organizational memory. In her role as Operational Director, Dr. Luciara Nardon, is in charge of the Centre’s day-to-day operations and execution of strategic directions. As the Incoming Director, Dr. Andrew Webb, is responsible for introducing new initiatives and gaining experience to lead the Centre’s operations next year.

Directors, Dr. Bujaki and Dr. Nardon, who have been serving in CRIW’s leadership for 10 and four years respectively hope the changes will encourage more faculty members to get involved. Both agree that being at the helm of CRIW is a rewarding experience, but the previous requirement to lead the Centre for five years could be an issue that discourages other faculty members from taking on a leadership role.

“Over the years, we have seen interest in CRIW’s initiatives grow,” they said. “We hope the change encourages others to get involved in leading the Centre.”

Incoming Director, Dr. Webb, who joined CRIW’s leadership team last year, would like to see more engagement to ensure the organization’s long-term success.

“CRIW’s continued success depends on the participation and involvement of volunteer faculty members,” he said.

To be eligible for a leadership position at CRIW, individuals must be a faculty member at the Sprott School of Business. The director roles have a three-year term. Each director will progress through Incoming, Operational, Outgoing Director positions.
