CREWW Announcement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Lorraine Dyke has been appointed Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic) for a three-year term effective July 1, 2017<\/span>. She was the unanimous recommendation of the Search Committee and will succeed Dr. John Shepherd who is retiring at the end of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Search Committee was very impressed with Prof. Dyke\u2019s 21 years of experience as an academic leader and innovator, and her passion for collaboration, innovation and the quality of the student experience. Through her experience as Associate Dean for Professional Graduate programs, as founder and former Director of the Centre for Research and Education on Women and Work (CREWW), and as a member of many Sprott and university committees, she will bring to this position valuable strategic and operational skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic) provides the primary support to the Provost with responsibilities for implementing strategic initiatives, operational academic planning, academic quality assurance, academic program and curriculum development, liaison with Senate and support for the administration of academic affairs within the Office of the Provost. The Vice-Provost assumes the role of Acting Provost in the absence of the Provost. The position of Vice-Provost is a full-time administrative appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Dyke is presently a Professor of Management and Strategy and the Associate Dean, MBA Programs in the Sprott School of Business. In this role, she is responsible for both Sprott\u2019s domestic and international MBA programs \u2013 offered in Asia and South America \u2013 plus the School\u2019s new Master of Accounting degree. Prof. Dyke holds an MBA and PhD in Management from Queen\u2019s University, and a BA (Honours) in English Literature from the University of Ottawa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Dyke has spoken and published extensively on the changing dynamics of the workforce and diversity issues. Major monographs include a guide to managing diversity in law firms, a cross\u2011cultural study of attitudes towards women in management, and large studies in the federal public service, the high-tech sector and policing. Dr. Dyke is also the recipient of six Best Paper Awards for her research. Her consulting experience includes work with some of Canada\u2019s largest public- and private-sector organizations, including a major executive training initiative on diversity, a custom leadership program for a federal agency and various projects on workplace climate issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, Dr. Dyke was the recipient of a Leading Women Building Communities Award from the Government of Ontario. Dr. Dyke has also been awarded a Carleton Graduate Mentoring Award and the Graduate Students\u2019 Association Excellence Award in Graduate Teaching at Carleton University. She has been nominated by Carleton alumnae for a Governor General\u2019s Award in Commemoration of the Person\u2019s Case, as a YMCA-YWCA Woman of Distinction and for a Capital Educators\u2019 Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
