The PhD program focuses on advanced interdisciplinary research in Information Technology and related applications and topics. The program allows you to learn new concepts and develop new skills, or improve your existing ones. See our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/csit\/current-and-past-theses-in-the-school-of-information-technology\/\">past and current thesis examples<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/csit\/showcase\/\">showcase<\/a>&nbsp;for the types of research being produced by the School of IT in Digital Media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are registered in the course-based option but later decide to move to the thesis-based MASc option must meet three criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum CGPA: 10.0.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have completed at least one term in your current program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must find a thesis supervisor (or co-supervisors).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"timelines-and-schedules\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Timelines and Schedules<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically, students will take:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ITEC5001 [0.0 credit] Information Technology Seminar : ongoing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ITEC6907 [0.0 credit] Doctoral Comprehensive Exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ITEC6908 [0.0 credit] Doctoral Proposal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ITEC6909 [8.5 credits] Doctoral Thesis in Information Technology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1.5 credit in Electives selected in consultation with the supervisor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The coursework is generally done in the university.
