Please bear in mind that we are an information technology School, and while we have some flexibility in undergraduate degree requirements, we do expect intermediate programming skills. We will consider applicants who have gained intermediate undergraduate level computer programming skills through relevant professional experience. Other applicants will need to take a set of additional courses that fulfills this requirement (stipulated on a case-by-case basis). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"data-science-specialization\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data Science Specialization:&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students entering the Data Science specialization require the same background as those entering the DM program. Entrance for the specialization in Data Science is restricted to the fall term. More details available at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/datascience\/\">carleton.ca\/datascience<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"ph-d-in-information-technology\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ph.D. in Information Technology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants to this program will normally hold a Master&#8217;s degree in one of the three related disciplines (Technology, Content, and People), have a demonstrated research capacity, and demonstrate the ability to work in multi-disciplinary groups and have some general technology background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"applications-and-deadlines\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applications and Deadlines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Details about how to apply are available at:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.carleton.ca\/apply-online\">graduate.carleton.ca\/apply-online<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are accepted throughout the year. It is important to note that priority for funding (see Financial Information below) is provided to Fall applicants. To be considered for funding, complete applications must be received by the deadline indicated below. Funding for Winter admission may be available on a limited basis, contingent on remaining funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fall admission:&nbsp; <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">January 15<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Winter admission: &nbsp;<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">August 1<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"you-need-to-provide-the-following-documents\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">You need to provide the following documents:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact information from two references (three for PhD) &#8211; academic references preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A one-page Statement of Intent (outlining your proposed area of research, background and potential supervisors)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Current CV\/Resum\u00e9<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A copy of transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A portfolio of your digital media projects (optional \/ Digital Media program only)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If applicable, a copy of your English-language test results (proof of language proficiency)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(For PhD): Writing sample (e.g. sample of published work)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Official documents (transcripts, test scores) will be only required if you are accepted into our program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"thesis-based-applications-masc-and-phd\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thesis-based applications (MASc and PhD)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Thesis\u2011based applicants are encouraged to <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">secure a supervisor<\/strong> at the time of application, as this typically strengthens the application and may increase the likelihood of admission. Applicants who have not yet secured a supervisor should <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">identify potential supervisor(s)<\/strong> whose research interests align with their proposed area of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your application is complete, your application package will be reviewed by the selected faculty member(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/csit\/graduate-studies\/research\/research-areas\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"519\">Research Areas<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/csit\/our-people\/faculty-and-instructors\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"256\">Faculty and Cross Faculty members List<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please be sure to indicate your funding situation when contacting faculty members: i.e., whether you will require funding, partial funding, or whether you are self-funded. Please also indicate your research area interest and experience, and ensure that your experience aligns with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/csit\/graduate-studies\/research\/research-areas\/\">research interests<\/a>&nbsp;of the faculty member to whom you are applying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"course-based-applications-mnet\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course-based applications (MNET)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Only applicants who have an undergraduate degree in a related field are eligible for admission. Applicants holding degrees from institutions outside Canada must satisfy the minimum admission requirements.
