Orlando, Florida<\/em> – Carleton School of Information Technology is making a significant impact at the 2024 IEEE VR conference in Orlando, Florida, with a strong representation of research projects and presentations led by Dr. Robert Teather and his dedicated team of graduate students. The Carleton team is presenting a diverse array of innovative work, including two workshop papers, two doctoral consortium presentations, two posters, and a demo. <\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kristen Grinyer is spearheading efforts to enhance inclusivity and accessibility in VR technologies. Her presentation in the workshop, doctoral consortium, and research demonstration sessions focuses on “Low-Fi VR Controller,” a cost-effective trackable controller made of paper to facilitate greater access to VR experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eric DeMarbre’s research delves into improving user interaction in mixed reality environments. His poster presentation, “Target Selection with Avatars in Mixed Reality,” explores the impact of using 3D avatars to correct occlusion issues, ultimately enhancing users’ task completion abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assem Kroma’s involvement extends beyond presentations. As an organizer of the 2nd Workshop on Emerging Novel Prototyping Techniques for XR (ENPT XR), he has facilitated an interactive platform for XR researchers to exchange insights and ideas. Additionally, his participation in the Doctoral Consortium and as a student volunteer underscores his commitment to the IEEE VR community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
