Using their own practice, studies, and interests as points of departure Cara\u00a0Tierney will stimulate a convivial dialogue on performance art \u2013 it\u2019s histories, it\u2019s tenuous relationship to \u201cArt\u201d and the \u201cArt World\u201d and how it could potentially be mobilized as a radically subversive, emancipatory and daily practice.<\/p>\n

Cara<\/a> is an interdisciplinary artist whose work questions the role of gender and its relationship to the material body. They are also currently a second year PhD student in Cultural Mediations (ICSLAC) and recently curated Transactions<\/em> at the Carleton University Art Gallery.<\/p>\n

This session is part of The Friday Table<\/strong>, a series of weekly Friday afternoon events organized by the Graduate Steering Committee for the Centre for Transnational Cultural Analysis (CTCA) and the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture (ICSLAC) at Carleton University. We aim to bolster the Centre\u2019s mandate to bring together scholars and students working with transnational approaches to studies in the humanities through regular, informal workshops, roundtables, film screenings, and discussion groups. The Friday Table seeks to foster collegiality and promote student-led research-creation.
