The Centre for Transnational Cultural Analysis and the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture (ICSLAC) invite you to attend the third session of the 2017-2018 Cultural Transfers Workshop series entitled, “Phenomenological Exchanges”\u00a0on Friday February 16th, 2:00-4:00pm, in 201D Saint Patrick\u2019s Building (ICSLAC Seminar Room)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This session will feature Dr. Rebecca Dolgoy (CTCA\/ICI Berlin Postdoctoral Fellow) and Dino Koutras (Cultural Mediations PhD Candidate).<\/p>\n

Workshops are organized as follows: two 20-minute presentations followed by a question\/discussion period.<\/p>\n

In this session we will explore various ways in which phenomenology resonates in interdisciplinary contexts. Dino Koutras will present a paper on “The Cinematic Imaginary: Ontology and Immanence in Film Theory” and, to follow up, Rebecca Dolgoy will use key concepts and texts developed in Dino’s presentation in her presentation, “Phenomenological Encounters in Berlin’s\u00a0Neues Museum<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

After the presentations everyone will have the chance to think about the ways in which phenomenology might apply to their own research. To better prepare for the discussion, please take a look at the attached text (Introduction to Daniel Frampton’s\u00a0Filmosophy<\/em><\/a>), as well as Martin Heidegger’s foundational text, “Building, Dwelling, Thinking.”<\/p>\n

Cultural Transfers is a workshop series co-organized by the Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Culture and the Centre for Transnational Cultural Analysis, Carleton University. Each session pairs student and faculty research as a way to examine intersections around related topics, methodologies, and\/or research questions.<\/p>\n
