CTPL is a pioneer in using trade negotiation simulations based on real-life scenarios as a skills development teaching tool and a practical way to test new ideas before trying them out at the negotiating table.  We’ve done simulations of the Doha Round (3 times), a Canada-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, a Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, and a Canada-CARICOM Trade and Development Agreement (5 times).  We partnered with the Shridath Ramphal Centre at the University of the West Indies in Barbados on the Canada-CARICOM simulation.  The text generated from the simulation and the experience itself are used to inform briefing notes we prepare for governments and stakeholders on all sides on our recommendations to move the trade negotiations forward.
