Blueprint for Canada-US engagement under a new Administration

In January 2009, NPSIA, (www.carleton.ca/npsia) in collaboration with CTPL, released in advance of the first visit by US President Barack Obama to Canada a recommended Canada-US agenda on bilateral and global prosperity and security issues. The report was based on an 18-month study by leading Canadian and US experts on how Canada could best advance its interests with the new US administration. The report was discussed with both Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Leader of the Opposition. It received wide coverage in the media and many of its recommendations (e.g., on energy security, border issues, and the Arctic) became defining issues on the Canada-US agenda.
