Are you up for the CANDEV Data Challenge?
October 21, 2018 — October 22, 2018
Cost: | Free |
Statistics Canada, in collaboration with the Government of Canada and the University of Ottawa, is pleased to introduce the CANDEV Data Challenge!
Join post-secondary students from across Canada for an intensive 24 hours of problem-solving!
Date: October 20 to 21, 2018
Location: University of Ottawa at the Learning Crossroads building located at 100 Louis-Pasteur (participants must attend in person)
Who can participate: All post-secondary students in Canada. Students must be 18 years old and older and able to physically attend the event.
Each participating team will work on user stories or business cases provided by our public sector partners. The cases will revolve around data. These diverse scenarios may include anything from establishing new processes, acquiring transactional data, creating a cloud-based working space, to developing a statistical dashboard about a specific theme.
We encourage students from all fields who are interested in acquiring functional information technology (IT) experience to apply, as a variety of skills are needed for a successful team. Students will present an IT solution that will be evaluated by judges.
All participants that are eligible for the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) will be invited to apply to a targeted FSWEP inventory. This is an exciting opportunity for students to collaborate on the modernization efforts of the Government of Canada while learning new skills. Government of Canada employers will be on the lookout for innovative and creative minds—don’t miss this chance to showcase your abilities!
