ABSTRACT

Marketing and advertising have been making valuable use of data mining and modelling techniques for many years. What is particularly interesting now is the intersection of three factors: the accessibility of digital platforms and analytics tools, new levels of competition on customer journey, and marketing teams who are more squeezed than ever for resources. In this context, opportunities abound for creative and cost-effective applications of data science by everyone from statistics gurus to marketers and business analysts.

In this Data Science Institute Lecture, we will explore the challenges and opportunities afforded by this intersection, and some of the interesting insights we’ve taken working with mid-size organizations and the push to drive more business value from data.
