Building Digital Twins: Bringing AI into Facility Management<\/strong>
\nwith Dr. Jenn McArthur<\/p>\n

Abstract: <\/strong>Overview of the Smart Campus Integration Platform (SCIP) project (a 5-year, ~$2M NSERC Alliance Project) currently in its second year,\u00a0including highlights of research from prior or related projects to give insight on its further development. This talk will cover the key steps in developing the SCIP digital twin, including development of the federated data model, data streaming and IoT sensor integration, data analytics, preliminary event detection algorithms, and the Digital Twin integration in Autodesk Forge.<\/p>\n

Jenn McArthur - Associate Professor, Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University<\/a><\/dt>

<\/p>\n

Jenn’s research focuses on holistic improvement of the built environment with an emphasis on smart<\/em> and sustainable<\/em> building technologies. Her research seeks to overcome practical industry challenges and barriers to building improvement; to do this, she draws from her 15-year career consulting in energy, water, and building (HVAC\/mechanical) design.\u00a0Jenn currently leads the Smart Building Research Group at Ryerson and is currently overseeing the development of the new Smart Campus Integration and Testing Lab,\u00a0a CFI-funded facility to develop,\u00a0test, and demonstrate new and emerging\u00a0Smart Building and Smart City solutions scheduled to open in 2022. Since starting at Ryerson in 2014, she has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications and secured over $8M in funding, and supervised over 40 HQP. Beyond her academic contributions, Jenn has served on various federal and municipal advisory groups to bring her research outcomes to inform public policy.<\/p>\n
