Activities, such as Assignments, Quizzes and Forums, or Resources, such as Files and Pages, can be easily edited from your cuLearn course page.

NOTE: Before you edit an activity or resource, you need to turn editing on in your course settings. To turn editing on, click the blue gear at the top right of your course page and select Turn editing on.

Editing Activity or Resource Settings

Once you have added an Activity or Resource to your course page, you can edit the settings, such as the due date, content or layout, from the Edit drop-down menus to the right of each activity/resource.

To edit the setting for an activity or resource:

  1. Log in to your cuLearn course using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Locate the activity/resource you would like edit.
  4. From the Edit drop-down menu to the right of the activity, select Edit Settings.  You will be taken back to the settings page that you originally configured when you added the activity/resource.
  5. Edit the specific settings you want to change.
  6. When you have finished adjusting your settings, click Save and return to course or Save and display. Your settings will now be changed.

Duplicating an Activity or Resource

Activities or Resources can be created once and then duplicated multiple times in a course to save time. This is especially useful if you have selected special settings and/or if you have created a rubric or marking guide for an Assignment or a Forum.

To duplicate an activity or resource:

  1. Log in to your cuLearn course using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Ensure that editing is turned on. To do so, look for the Edit links next to the activities and resources your course page.
    NOTE: To turn editing on, click the blue gear at the top right of your course page and select Turn editing on.
  4. Go to the topic/week with the activity you would like to duplicate.
  5. From the Edit dropdown menu to the right of the activity, select Duplicate.
  6. Your duplicated activity will now appear below your original activity on your cuLearn course page and it will be labeled with the same title and (copy). For example, “Weekly Discussion (copy)”.  
  7. Drag-and-drop the copied activity to the topic/week where you would like it to appear. For instructions on Moving an Activity or Resources, see the section below.

Once you have added the activity, you can change the name  and change the settings such as the due date or other relevant information for the activity. 

Moving an Activity or Resource

You can re-arrange the activities, resources, and/or topic blocks on your course page using the move icons to the right of each activity/resource/topic.

NOTE: The move icon will only be available on the course page when editing is turned on. To turn editing on, click the blue gear at the top right of your course page and select Turn editing on.

To move an activity or resource:

  1. Log in to your cuLearn course using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Locate the activity/resource/topic you would like to move.
  4. Click and hold the move icon beside the activity/resource
  5. Drag-and-drop the activity/resource where you would like it to appear on your course page. The activity/resource/topic block will ghost into place to indicate it is ready to be dropped.
    NOTE: you can only move activities and resources within other topic blocks.  Activities and resources cannot be moved to the left navigation menu or the right course column.

Renaming an Activity or Resource

Activity and resource names can be edited from your main course page using the pencil icon to the right of each activity or resource

To rename and activity or resource:

  1. Log in to your cuLearn course using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Locate the activity/resource you would like to rename.
  4. Click the pencil iconto the right of the activity/resource. An editable text field will now appear.
  5. Type a new name for your activity resource.                               
  6. Click enter/return on your keyboard to save your changes. The name should change in a moment or two.

Hiding/Showing an Activity or Resource

You can hide activities or resources so that students are unable to see them on your course page. This is useful if the activity/resource setup is incomplete, or if you have an assessment, such as a quiz, that you are not ready to release yet.

To hide an activity or resource:

  1. Log in to your cuLearn course using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Locate the activity/resource you would like to hide from your students.
  4. From the Edit drop-down menu to the right of the activity, select Hide.                               
  5. Your hidden activity/resource will now appear greyed out with a blue “hidden from students” notification. When an activity/resource is hidden, students cannot see the link to the activity or resource at all.

To unhide an activity or resource, click the Edit drop-down menu and select Show.                 

Deleting an Activity or Resource

  1. Log in to your cuLearn course using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Locate the activity/resource you would like to delete.
  4. From the Edit drop-down menu to the right of the activity, select delete
  5. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion of the activity/resource in a pop-up window. Click Yes to permanently delete the activity/resource.
