If you have made adjustments to your quiz questions after students have completed the quiz, such as changing the correct answer or maximum mark, you will need to regrade the quiz results. You can edit your quiz questions and regrade the results in your quiz settings. Once you have regraded your quiz, the results will automatically be updated in your gradebook.

Adjusting Quiz Questions

You can adjust your quiz questions from the Editing Quiz page in your quiz settings. You won’t be able to add or remove questions if students have already completed the quiz, but you have the option to:

  • Nullify the question so that no students receive a mark
  • Change which answer is correct so that the marks can be redistributed to students accordingly
  • Set all answers to be correct so that every student receives a mark for answering the question

To access the Editing quiz page

  1. Log in to cuLearn using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Click on your quiz.
  4. Click on the Settings Gear on the top-right side of the page.
  5. In the drop-down menu, select Edit quiz.   
The editing quiz page displays a list of all questions in your quiz (See screenshot below).  If your students have already attempted the quiz, you will see the message “You cannot add or remove questions because this quiz has been attempted”. Quiz questions can be adjusted by modifying the maximum marks or changing the answer grades .

To nullify a quiz question

  1. On the Editing Quiz page, click the pencil icon next to the maximum mark for the question you want to nullify.
  2. Change the maximum mark to 0, then press Enter

Once you’ve nullified the question, you can regrade the quiz to view the updated results.

To change the correct answer(s) for a quiz question

  1. On the Editing quiz page, click blue gear icon next to the quiz question you want to edit. 
  2. Scroll down to the the Answers tab
  3. In the Grade drop-down menus, edit the the following:
    • Change the grade for the new correct answer from None to 100%
    • Change the grade for the incorrect answer from 100% to None
  4. Click Save Changes.

Once you’ve saved the new correct/incorrect answers, you can regrade the quiz to view the updated results. 

To make all answers correct

  1. On the Editing quiz page, click the blue gear icon next to the quiz question you want to edit. 
  2. Scroll down to the Answers tab.
  3. In the Grade drop-down menus, set the grade for each answer to be worth 100% so that all students will receive a mark for answering the question.
  4. Click Save Changes.

Once you’ve adjusted the grade for each answer to 100%, you can regrade the quiz to view the updated results. 

Adjusting Random Quiz Questions

If your quiz includes random question sets, you can adjust the questions in the following way:

  1. Log in to cuLearn using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Click on your quiz.
  4. Click on the Settings Gear on the top-right side of the page.
  5. In the drop-down menu, select Edit quiz.
  6. On the Editing quiz page, locate your random question set (all random question sets have a die icon next to the gear wheel).           
  7. Click the See questions link beside the question you want to adjust (see screenshot above). You will be taken to a list of all questions included in your Random question set in the the Question Bank (See screenshot below).   
  8. Locate the question you want to adjust, then click the blue gear wheel next to the question name.
  9. You can adjust how many marks the question is worth or adjust which answers are correct.
    • To adjust how many marks the question is worth:
      1. Under the General tab, adjust the default mark (see screenshot below).
        TIP: To nullify the question, change the default mark to 0.
      2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.
    • To adjust which answers are correct:
      1. Scroll down to the Answers tab.
      2. Locate the answers that need to be adjusted.
      3. In the Grade drop-down menus below each answer, adjust which answers are correct/incorrect. (Incorrect answers are set to None, and correct answers are set to 100%)
        TIP: If you want all students to receive a mark for answering the question, set the grade for each answer to 100%.     
  10. When you have finished adjusting the question, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

Regrading the Quiz

cuLearn quizzes include a regrading function that can be accessed in your quiz settings.  The regraded quiz results will automatically be updated in your gradebook.

WARNING: Once you have regraded your quiz the changes cannot be undone.  We recommend doing a dry run to preview your regrade results before performing the final regrade.

To regrade a quiz:

  1. Log in to cuLearn using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. Click on your course link.
  3. Click on the quiz.
  4. Click on the quiz Attempts link.                           
  5. Click Dry run a full regrade to preview your regrade results.                                     
  6. Click Continue.             
  7. You will automatically be taken back to the Results page.  Scroll down to view a preview of your regraded quiz attempts.
  8. If you are satisfied with the results of the dry run, click Regrade all to perform the final regrade.
  9. Click ContinueYou will automatically be taken to the quiz Results page where you can view the final regrade results.
