My research explores the role of networks in forging and maintaining cultural expression and identity against the history of indigenous museum creation in Canada from the 1960s onwards. Working with the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee, I investigate the development of the Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute and its role as the central institution dedicated to preserving and shaping Cree cultures of nine communities across the James Bay region.<\/p>\n
In addition to my doctoral research, I am a Research Assistant for the Great Lakes Research Alliance for the Study of Aboriginal Arts and Cultures and currently the Curator of Inuit Art at the Carleton University Art Gallery.<\/p>\n
