This course is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in the area of financial management that are necessary to become leaders in the nonprofit sector. While the focus of this class will be on charitable organizations, comparisons will be made between nonprofit, for-profit, and government sectors where appropriate as we move through different sections of material.
There are over 80,000 charitable organizations registered with the Canadian Revenue Association, representing a diversity of organizations, ranging from complex international aid organizations, religious congregations, education and arts institutions, and small, community-based human service organizations. This course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of financial management with an emphasis on charitable organizations.
