Vanessa Ifepe

Vanessa Ifepe is a graduate student in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa Ontario. They are completing their graduate thesis on social media as a tool for mobilizing social movements and change, titled: Hashtag Police Brutality: The Role of Social Media Activism in Anti-Police Brutality Social Movements. This project is a continuum of their undergraduate thesis on Police Brutality as discourse on Tiktok which was completed at Carleton University in 2023 during her Criminology degree. Her research interests include police brutality, social media, marginalized groups, the lived experiences of Black people, social movements, film and systemic racism.
